"Nothing Can Ever Be the Same" to premiere at the Venice Biennale
This generative video work and companion piece to my documentary about Brian Eno will be exhibited in Venice this October.
The Venice Biennale has announced that it will present the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement to Brian Eno. Brian will be receiving the award October 21st, and also performing his work Ships that evening along with the Baltic Sea Philharmonic conducted by Kristjan Järvi, actor Peter Serafinowicz, and long-time collaborators guitarist Leo Abrahams and software designer Peter Chilvers interacting with the orchestra during the performance.
As part of the celebration, Brendan Dawes and I will present "Nothing Can Ever Be The Same", a 168-hour video art installation inside the Arsenale in Venice, opening October 22nd. The piece uses generative software we've developed to reimagine Eno’s music, art, new footage and archival material into a vast collage of sounds and images. It's an immersive cinematic experience that goes on forever (or in this version, for one week) and never repeats itself. There will be different iterations of this piece shown in other cities as well. We’ll be posting sneak peeks of this new work for subscribers here as it gets closer to the opening.
"Nothing Can Ever Be The Same" will run at the Biennale from October 22nd to 29th, ticket info for all the Biennale activities is available here. See my site for more info on my forthcoming Brian Eno documentary.

As a massive Eno and Hustwit fan, I would love an app like Reflection that they did, or some way to see the visual experience in some form, like an extra on the Bluray or something.
My partner has mobility issues so we would never have the opportunity to se the experience in person, sadly.
So unbelievably excited for this and for new updates! Eno is in good hands with Gary.
